Tournament Preview – WBHF Master’s Championship

GETTING BETTER WITH AGE – WORLD BALL HOCKEY FEDERATION MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN JUNE 3

On Sunday, June 3, 2018, the World Ball Hockey Federation (WBHF) kicks off their 2018 series of events with the 5-on-5 Masters tournament.  This event runs from June 3-9 in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic.

The WBHF launched this format in 2015 in the USA for players 40+.  Since 2015, the tournament has grown dramatically, and will see seven teams vying for this year’s championship.  In the mix this year are a diverse list of teams including last year’s winners, Slovakia.  The full list of participants includes:

  • Team Europe
  • Slovakia
  • Hungary
  • West Slovakia
  • Czechia
  • Canada
  • Czechoslovakia

Who To Watch

We fully expect to see a lot of competition for the gold medal in 2018.  Slovakia, Czechia, Team Europe, and Canada all have a legitimate chance to capture the gold medal.

With so many talented teams there is an abundance of great players to watch out for.  We are particularly excited to see the two Czech teams who feature some incredibly gifted offensive players like Vladimir Luka, Milan Sykora, and Ladislav Gengel.  The Czechs aren’t all offence though, as defensemen Martin Seidl and Michael Chmelina have proved to be a dominant force on the floor.
