Teams Hit the Streets of Pittsburgh at the 23rd Annual Street Hockey USA National Championships
The 23rd annual Street Hockey USA National Championships took place April 27-29, 2018 at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In total, the tournament hosted 44 teams and over 700 players from across the USA in A, B, and Roller Hockey divisions.
Adult Rec Street A Division
In the A Division, the hometown Team Pitt Saints took home the championship crown with a convincing 6-2 win over Militia A. In order to advance to the finals, both teams came out of close battles:
- Pitt Saints 1 – Cobras (Buffalo) 0
- Militia A 3 – Blitzkrieg 2
Division Outstanding Players went to Navaro Lotonero (Team Pitt Saints) and Zack Thimons (Militia A).
Adult Rec Street B Division
The Rec B Division featured an incredible 22 teams vying for the division title. The final came down to Hark’s Place (Raleigh, NC) and the Thunder (Raleigh, NC). This Tar Heel state match up would end up going to Hark’s Place with a close 1-0 victory.
Rounding out the four teams in the division are:
- Hark’s Place (Raleigh, NC)
- Thunder (Raleigh, NC)
- Chicago Ballhogs (Chicago, IL)
- Misfits Black
Division Outstanding Players went to Jeff Trojan (Hark’s Place) and Gino Giangreco (Raleigh Thunder).
Roller Hockey Division
In the Roller Hockey Division, it was the North Park Lightning cruising to the B Division championship with a 9-3 win over the Goon Squad. Meanwhile, in the C Division, the Lamagna Cheese defeated the Mighty Drunks 5-3 to capture the C Division Championship.
Roller Hockey Division Outstanding Players are Sean McCue (North Park Lightning), Zach Milnarcik (Goon Squad), Cam Zahn (Lamagna Cheese), and Nick Peters (Mighty Drunks).
