Gateway to the World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships Wrap Up

The Gateway to the World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships, hosted by ballhockey.com is one of the most anticipated tournaments in Ontario.  The 2019 tournament took place July 5-7 at the Niagara Ball Hockey Club in St. Catharines, Ontario and featured Men’s B/C and D divisions.
Teams winning this event earn themselves a paid entry into the 2019 World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships in Barrie, ON this September.

Men’s B/C Division

The Men’s B/C Division featured some power house teams.  After the three game preliminary round, the standings looked like this:

Heading into the playoff round, it still looked like it was anyone’s tournament with all of the top five teams looking like legit contenders.  Here are the playoff round results:

Quarter-Finals

  • Niagara Bricksquad 2 – Niagara North 1
  • Hamilton Outlaws 3 – Hollywood Express 1
  • Niagara Marvel 3 – Niagara Falls Thunder 2
  • Hamilton Haze 6 – Hamilton Ducks 5

Semi-Finals

  • Hamilton Outlaws 3 – Niagara Marvel 2

Men’s D Division

Similar to Men’s B/C, the D division was incredibly competitive.  Each team played a three game preliminary round in order to qualify for the playoff round; here are the pre-lim standings:
