2019 World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships

One of the biggest ball hockey tournaments in Ontario is upon us once again.  The 2019 World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships (WOBHC) by ballhockey.com returns to the Barrie Ball Hockey Club, September 20-22, 2019.  This tournament has traditionally been a major showcase of some of the top talent in North America, and this year is shaping up to be no different.  With some big names across all divisions, this year’s WOBHC will be a memorable one.

Men’s A

The Men’s A Division may only feature four teams this year but there will be no shortage of great play.  Participating teams this year include:

  • Ottawa Godfathers
  • Barrie Maple Kings
  • Niagara War Pigs
  • Barrie Flyers

Games kick off on Friday night the playoffs beginning Sunday afternoon.  For a full schedule CLICK HERE.

Teams to Watch

With the 2018 champions, Penn Hills Arsenal out of the mix in 2019, the door is wide open for any of these teams to take home this year’s trophy.  It just so happens that the Barrie Flyers (2017), and Niagara War Pigs (2016) are also former WOBHC champions and are the likely favourites in 2019.

Men’s B

The Men’s B/C division features a staggering 40 teams.  Schedule kicks off Friday night through Sunday.  After 3 games, top 16 will advance to Men’s B playoffs and the following 16 will advance to the C playoffs.  Remaining teams will be eliminated.  CLICK HERE for the full schedule. Participating teams include:

Teams to Watch

On the B side, we’ll be watching Big Bastone, who fell to the London Gulls in the 2018 final.  However, they won’t have an easy walk to the final with the likes of the London Reapers and Southwest Cowboys in the mix.  Not to be taken lightly, Dream Team and the Hamilton Outlaws could surprise teams who don’t being their “A” game that day.

In the C Group, the 2018 Champion Niagara Falls Canucks return to defend their title.  To do so, they’ll face stiff competition from the Hamilton Haze and Kitchener Fury among many others.

Women’s A/B

On the Women’s side, 10 teams will hit the floor in hopes of taking home this year’s championship.  Games start Friday night with the playoffs wrapping up on Sunday.  The full schedule can be found HERE

Teams participating this year include:

  • London Pacers
  • Simcoe Storm
  • Beastie Bitches
  • Ottawa Blackouts
  • Barrie Box Shots
  • Niagara Goonies
  • Ontario Panthers
  • Toronto Team Name
  • Barrie Better Halves

Teams to Watch

With the 2018 champion, London Norstar not returning this year, all eyes will fall on the 2018 finalist Ontario Panthers as the logical favourite.  However, standing in their way are some very talented teams including the Ottawa Blackouts and Toronto Team Name, who both have a legitimate chance to win in 2019.
