2019 International Street and Ball Hockey Federation Championship Preview

The International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF) Championship kicks off this weekend, running from June 14-22 at Steel Arena in Kosice, Slovakia.

Men’s Division

The Men’s Division will feature a staggering fifteen nations competing for the championship.  The host Slovakia will be looking to capture their fourth straight title but, they will have their hands full with a competitive schedule.  The fifteen teams will be broken out into two groups.  Teams in the 2019 tournament include:

A1 Group A2 Group Q Group
Czech Republic Canada Armenia
Finland Greece Bermuda
Great Britain Haiti Cayman Islands
Slovakia Italy Hong Kong
USA Switzerland Lebanon

Teams To Watch

The host nation, Slovakia are the obvious favourites going into this year’s tournament as they search for their fourth ISBHF championship in a row.  Standing in their way will be the Czech Republic, and Canada.  We will also be keeping an eye on Team USA; they have a talented roster but have been known to play below their skill level on the international scene.

Schedule

The Men’s schedule kicks off Friday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. CEST (4:30 a.m. EST) with the Swiss taking on Greece.  The full men’s schedule and results can be found HERE.

Women’s Division

Similarly, the Women’s Division will also feature fifteen countries competing for the 2019 championship.  The fifteen teams will be broken out into two groups.  Teams in the tournament include:

A1 Group A2 Group Q Group
Czech Republic Canada Armenia
Finland Greece Bermuda
Great Britain Haiti Cayman Islands
Slovakia Italy Hong Kong
USA Switzerland Lebanon

Teams To Watch

The Women’s Division has been incredibly competitive since their inaugural year in 2007.  We don’t expect 2019 to be any different and we will be keeping close eye on the favourites, Czech Republic and Canada.  However, in 2017, Team USA reached the podium for the first time in the tournament’s history, which means both the Americans and host Slovaks are two teams you have to watch out for.

Schedule

The Women’s Division begins with a bang on Friday afternoon with Team Slovakia taking on Team Canada at 3 p.m. CEST (9 a.m. EST).  The full women’s schedule and results can be found HERE
